We are thrilled to announce that BIAS FX Desktop launch has been a major success and already set a new milestone in the fast growing Positive Grid community. However, none of this would have been possible without you, the longtime fans and users.
We would like to help out by addressing some questions we have received in the last few hours in an easy to understand comparison guide between BIAS Amp and BIAS FX.
1- What is BIAS FX?
BIAS FX is the world’s first cross-platform guitar effects processor. It allows you to build virtual pedalboards, import BIAS Amp Match profiles into dual signal path, share and download presets on ToneCloud, and record + re-amp with a state-of-the-art guitar amp and effects for your studio. It is designed from the ground up with no-compromise mindset and focus on effects quality, it comes with all the greatest and latest algorithms from our audio signal processing research and development, it provides significantly detailed and authentic emulation of analog pedals and studio racks.
BIAS FX also comes with hundreds of user and artists pedalboards ready to download from ToneCloud. Custom signature pedalboards include:
After The Burial

Neil Zaza (coming on mid August)
Deftones (coming on mid August)
2- What is BIAS Amp?
BIAS Desktop is guitar amp match modeler and designer. Its advanced amp-modeling engine captures the warmth and feel of real tube amps in every aspect, component by component. BIAS Amp is fully customizable, easily create amp models by swapping out the tubes, preamp, transformer, tone stacks, cab and mic to create your own custom amps and unique signature sound, with Amp Match technology, you can capture any tube amplifiers, share and download amp profiles on ToneCloud.
3- Ok, so what’s the main difference between BIAS FX and BIAS Amp? Why are they separate products?
We created BIAS FX with a mindset of a full blown amp-and-effects platform for professional recording, to host a huge collection of state-of-arts effect modules and custom BIAS Amp profiles, it’s not just a simple upgrade to BIAS Amp with a few effects. BIAS FX goes beyond and provides dual signal path, pedalboard view, rack view, download and share pedalboards on ToneCloud.
However, while developing BIAS FX we kept in mind our current BIAS Amp fans and users. If you are one of them, we are currently offering a crossgrade discount for BIAS FX Professional. Just log in with to the BIAS Store and you will get the discount automatically on purchase.
4- In the end, should I use BIAS Amp, BIAS FX, or both?
Obviously BIAS FX and BIAS Amp are designed together to provide seamlessly integration of the best of both amp and effect world. But it also depends on your application, use occasion, environment, and personal style are important factors to consider.
If your studio and recording needs are based on different amp tones, or getting a specific amp sound not possible to get with traditional amps, and little or no effects use, you might just need BIAS Amp. On the other hand, if you just need a few basic amp tones and rely on several pedalboard and rack configurations, BIAS FX is the right one for you.
And whether you are a full time working musician or just playing for fun at your home studio, and are looking for endless amp and effects configurations for tone experimentation, both BIAS Amp and BIAS FX are a good match for you.
