FAQ

What is Spark PEDAL?

Spark PEDAL is the only pedal that brings the complete Spark experience. It combines a portable smart amp and effects pedal with a built-in looper that brings the full Spark experience into a single device designed for electric, acoustic, and bass guitar players. It provides a massive tone library, and deep app integration — into any setup, anywhere you play.

Instead of carrying multiple pedals or building a complex setup, Spark PEDAL gives you a complete guitar rig in one compact unit that works at home, in the studio, at rehearsal, or on stage, so you can take your Spark tones anywhere.

What makes Spark PEDAL different from other multi-effects pedals?

Traditional multi-effects pedals are often built around menu navigation, preset browsing, and manual tone building. To create a sound, players typically spend time adjusting amp settings, effects chains, and EQ parameters step by step.

Spark PEDAL takes a different approach. It combines instant tone creation, hands-on controls, portability, and Spark ecosystem integration into one compact pedal.

Spark PEDAL combines:

• Full Spark App integration with ToneCloud access
• A built-in rechargeable battery for cable-free portability
• Fast hands-on controls without deep menu diving
• Easy, fast tone building with text-to-tone capabilities
• A built-in looper controlled directly from the footswitches
• Compact size designed for real-world portability

In practice, this means you can move quickly between creating tones, practicing, recording, rehearsing, and performing without carrying a large pedalboard or building complicated signal chains.

The result is a more streamlined experience focused on helping players spend less time configuring gear and more time playing.

Who is Spark PEDAL for?

Spark PEDAL is designed for players who want great tone and flexibility without the complexity of a large pedalboard or deep menu systems.

It’s especially suited for:

• Existing Spark users who want to bring their Spark tones into any setup
• Home players and creators who want fast, inspiring tones with minimal setup
• Guitarists who play rehearsals, open mics, church gigs, or small stages
• Players who want a compact all-in-one solution for practice and performance
• Musicians who want flexible setups using headphones, amps, PA systems, or recording interfaces

What instruments can I use with Spark PEDAL?

Spark PEDAL supports electric guitar, acoustic guitar, and bass guitar.

Does Spark PEDAL replace a traditional amp?

It can, depending on your setup.

Spark PEDAL includes amp modeling, effects, and stereo line outputs, so you can connect directly to headphones, PA systems, powered speakers, FRFR cabinets, recording interfaces, or traditional guitar amps.

Some players may use it as their complete rig, while others may integrate it into an existing pedalboard or amplifier setup.

How does Spark PEDAL create tones?

Spark PEDAL combines amp models, effects, and tone tools to help you quickly create playable guitar tones.

You can start in different ways:

• shaping tones directly from the pedal using onboard controls
• using Text to Tone to describe a sound in natural language
• browsing and loading presets from ToneCloud
• using the Spark App for full amp and effects editing

Spark PEDAL then combines amp modeling, EQ, and effects into a playable sound you can hear immediately.

From there, you can continue refining the tone without rebuilding it from scratch. You can adjust amp settings, effects, and overall feel directly from the pedal or through the Spark App.

This creates a faster workflow focused on moving from an idea to a usable sound quickly, while still allowing deeper editing when you want it.

How does Text to Tone work?

Text to Tone -available through the Spark Pedal app- allows you to describe the type of sound you want in natural language.

For example, you might enter phrases like “warm blues lead,” “ambient clean with long reverb,” or “tight modern metal rhythm.” Spark PEDAL interprets your description and generates a matching amp and effects setup automatically.

Instead of manually building a tone step by step, you can start from a musical idea and then refine it further if needed.

Can I still tweak tones manually?

Yes. You can adjust gain, bass, mid, treble, effects, and overall tone directly from the pedal using the onboard knobs. The Spark App also provides deeper editing options for additional refinement.

Generated tones are designed to be fast starting points — not locked presets.

How many amps and effects are included?

Spark PEDAL includes 33 amp models and 43 effects, along with access to more than 100,000 community-created tones through ToneCloud.

How do the onboard controls work?

Spark PEDAL is designed around fast, hands-on control without requiring deep menu navigation.

In Amp Mode, the main knob selects amp types while the gain, bass, mid, and treble knobs adjust your amp tone.

In FX Mode, the knobs select and control drive, modulation, delay, and reverb effects directly from the pedal.

The three onboard footswitches also serve dual purposes depending on the selected mode:

• Preset Mode allows you to switch between saved presets in real time
• Looper Mode gives you direct access to recording, overdubbing, playback, stop, undo, and loop clearing

This layout allows you to shape tones, switch sounds, and control looping quickly in real time without interrupting your playing. While in Looper Mode, you can still adjust amp and effects parameters using the onboard knobs. You can also switch between your pre-selected presets in the Red and Green banks by pressing footswitches 2 and 3 together, making it easy to move between sounds such as rhythm and lead tones while a loop is playing.

If you need to perform actions that are only available outside Looper Mode—such as saving a preset or selecting a different preset directly from the pedal—the looper playback will stop when you exit Looper Mode. For more advanced preset switching while keeping the looper running, you can use the Spark App, MIDI control, or Spark Control X.

How many presets can I save?

Spark PEDAL allows you to save up to 6 custom presets across 2 banks.

How do the footswitches work?

Spark PEDAL includes 3 steel footswitches that operate in different modes depending on how you're using the pedal.

The onboard knobs are used for tone shaping. In Amp Mode, they control amp selection and amp parameters. In FX Mode, they allow you to select, adjust, or bypass effects directly from the pedal.

The footswitches are used for performance control. In Preset Control Mode, they let you switch between saved presets during practice or live performance. In Looper Control Mode, they provide direct access to recording, overdubbing, playback, stop, undo, and loop clearing.

LED indicators provide visual feedback for presets, looper status, and active modes during use.

Can I switch presets during live performance?

Yes. Spark PEDAL is designed for real-time preset switching using the onboard footswitches.

Does Spark PEDAL include a built-in looper?

Yes. Spark PEDAL includes a built-in looper controlled directly from the footswitches.

What can the looper do?

The built-in looper supports recording, overdubbing, playback, stop, undo, and loop clearing directly from the pedal.

It’s designed for practice, songwriting, improvisation, and live performance without requiring an external looper pedal.

Do I need an external looper pedal?

No. Spark PEDAL already includes a built-in looper, so no additional looper pedal is required.

Does Spark PEDAL work with the Spark App?

Yes. Spark PEDAL fully integrates with the Spark App for iOS and Android.
