REACTOR Control - The Best Ways to Use It

Estimated read time: 2-3 minutes. If you're playing live with Positive Grid's REACTOR, the intelligent guitar combo amp that builds tone from prompts, photos, and recordings, REACTOR Control is what makes all of that power hands-free on stage. REACTOR Control - The Best Ways to Use It

If you're playing live with Positive Grid's REACTOR, the intelligent guitar combo amp that builds tone from prompts, photos, and recordings, REACTOR Control is what makes all of that power hands-free on stage. Six footswitches, an expression pedal input, wireless or wired connection, and a multi-gig battery life. Here's how to get the most out of it.

Wired or Wireless — Both Are Actually Easy

Wired setup is three steps: power on both devices, run a 1/4" TRS cable (included) from REACTOR Control into the back of your amp, done. Super stable and nothing to think about once it's plugged in.

Wireless is just as straightforward. Power both on, hold the Pair button on the back of the amp, and they connect automatically. Up to 55 feet of range, which covers most stages without any issues. If you plug in a cable while connected wirelessly, it switches to wired mode automatically. No settings, no toggling — it just does it.

Two Modes, One Hold

Out of the box, REACTOR Control has two modes. Preset Mode loads your presets to footswitches 1–4, with the BANK switch moving you between banks. FX Loop is a tap away too. This is the mode most live players will live in.

Effect Toggle Mode gives you per-effect control instead. Each switch handles a single effect on or off within your current preset — Drive, Delay, Gate, Comp, Modulation, Reverb. Great for players who like to build and strip their sound in real time rather than jumping between full preset snapshots. Switching between the two modes is a single long press on the BANK switch, so it's easy to move between them if your set calls for it.

Expression Pedal

Plug any TRS expression pedal into the back and you've got real-time control over Wah or Guitar Volume. The default Auto mode switches between the two automatically based on whether Wah is active in your signal chain, but you can lock it to either one in the REACTOR app. Whatever you set gets saved to the amp, so it sticks even when the app isn't open.

The Tuner

Hold the FX LOOP/TUNER switch to mute the amp and bring up the tuner across the LED indicators. Tap any switch to get back to playing. Simple, fast, no menu diving.

REACTOR creates the tone. REACTOR Control means you can actually use all of it without taking your hands off the guitar.

The Bottom Line

REACTOR Control is the dedicated footswitch for REACTOR, and here's what it gives you:

  • Wired or wireless connection, up to 55 feet of range
  • Preset Mode for live preset switching across two banks
  • Effect Toggle Mode for turning individual effects on and off mid-song
  • Expression pedal input assignable to Wah or Volume
  • Built-in tuner with muted output
  • Up to 40 hours of battery life on wireless

If you're gigging with REACTOR, it's the piece that makes everything hands-free.
